Introduction to Cyanotype Printmaking

£95.00

Learn how to make vivid blue prints through drawing, painting, and collage.

During this in-depth day workshop for adults we will learn how to make cyanotype prints in my home studio in Camberwell.

I've practised and taught many artistic techniques professionally - Out of all of them I think Cyanotyping is one of the most fun, accessible and enjoyable. It is also the way in which I currently make the majority of my professional work.

It can be done in a very controlled environment (as we will do, in the studio) or much more simply, with sunlight - Either way the chemical processes involved create an incredibly intense and beautiful blue.

During the workshop we will:

  • Settle into the space and learn the story of this fascinating technique

  • Mix cyanotype solution and coat paper, preparing it for exposure

  • Make our own paint and create our designs through drawing, painting, collage, or a combination of all three

  • Take a 45 minutes break (There is a cafe 10 minutes walk away, although you might want to bring some lunch)

  • Use the light box to expose, then wash our paper to reveal the final print.

Maximum 6 students (Adults)

10am-3pm

*Please note:

This course is taught in my home studio which is accessed via a steep loft staircase. If you struggle with stairs i’d recommend you don’t book this session, but please contact me as I will be organising dates for more accessible workshops in an alternative location.

We also have a Cat, so this course may not be suitable if you have severe allergies.
